Do you guys provide instruments? We do not provide instruments. You can ask the Brown Music Department about using or renting an instrument.
Do you guys provide music? We have sight-readable string quartet music that you can play. However, for other ensembles, we ask that you prepare the music for that yourselves.
Am I required to go to any performances? There is no requirement to going to any performances. We do encourage members to attend at least one performance in the year, though.
How does transportation work? At some point before the event, we will get in touch with you with information about your program and how you can get to the venue. We will either provide you with a carpool or reimburse an uber.
Will you guys be rejecting volunteer applicants? We are starting our performances with a more limited capacity of volunteers, so volunteering will be a little more selective for the months of September and maybe October. However, as we get a good count on the demand for performances, we can schedule more events so more people can participate. Please fill out the general questionnaire!
How does programming work? We will try our best to program you for as much as you sign up for. However, if your program is extremely long, we may ask for you to cut it to be shorter. If there are a large number of people who sign up, we may ask some members to volunteer at the next available date.
How good do I have to be? For many of our events (including Wingate and the Prison) we accept any instruments and skill level. We just ask that whatever you play, you have it performance ready!
Would it be bad if I play a solo? Not at all! For higher demand events, we may encourage more group playing, but we will try to include as many people as possible for every event. We don’t usually have the problem of too many volunteers, so we aren’t worrying too much.
